G.O.A.T. Coach Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

G.O.A.T. Coach ("the app") is run by Nick Rose, United Kingdom. This policy explains what data the app uses and your rights. Contact: hello@goatcoach.uk.

Your coaching book stays on your phone

Players, registers, payments, match charts, stats and notes you enter are stored on your device. We do not upload your coaching book to our servers.

Online account (Send companion only)

If you use Send companion, you create a G.O.A.T. Coach online account with your email address and a password. We store your email address, your plan (Lite or Pro) and the invites you create. For each invite we store the player's first name or nickname as you typed it (up to 20 characters), a random player reference (not the player's real details), when it was created and when it expires. The one-time code is only stored in a scrambled (hashed) form.

Companion (parents and adult players)

A coach can invite a parent (or an adult player) to link their own phone to one player, in a web browser or in the G.O.A.T. Coach iPhone app, using a single-use code. Codes expire after 14 days and up to two phones can be linked to each player. Children do not use the companion and we never create an account for a child. The linked phone gets a random device key, stored on our server only in hashed form; in the iPhone app it is kept in the iPhone Keychain for that device only (not in iCloud backups). A linked phone sees only what the coach chooses to share about that one player: the first name or nickname, homework titles, a match summary (dates, results, scores and stats, without opponents' names) and messages from the coach. It never sees other players, medical notes, payments or the coach's notes. It can send the coach match charts, homework ticks and short messages; these are held on our server until the coach adds or dismisses them. Sessions or free slots the coach shares are also stored so the companion can show them. The parent can unlink at any time (if the phone is offline, it forgets everything at once and tells our server when it is next online), the coach can remove a phone at any time, and phones unused for 90 days are unlinked automatically.

Messages between parents and coaches

Parents and coaches can exchange short text messages (up to 280 characters) about the player. Before a message is stored it is checked automatically: links, email addresses, phone numbers, social media handles and offensive words are blocked, and the number of messages per day is limited. Photos and attachments cannot be sent. Messages are stored only so they can be delivered and are deleted automatically after 30 days, and straight away when the last phone linked to that player is unlinked or the coach deletes their account. We do not read these messages, use them for advertising or share them, except where the law requires it or to investigate a report of abuse.

Push notifications

If you allow notifications in the iPhone app, your phone gives the app a push token (a random address for sending alerts to that phone). We store it to send alerts through Expo (650 Industries, Inc., USA) and Apple Push Notification service. Alerts never contain a child's name, scores, messages or other personal details; they say only things like "New from your coach", and you open the app to see more. To check delivery we keep Expo's delivery receipt ID with the token for up to 24 hours, and if Apple reports that a phone no longer accepts alerts we delete that token. A push token is deleted when you turn alerts off, unlink the phone, a coach removes the phone, a coach signs out or the account is deleted. You can turn alerts off at any time in iPhone Settings > Notifications. Expo processes push tokens in the USA; Expo is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the UK recognises as providing adequate protection.

"Message us" support chat (coaches)

Coaches with a Lite or Pro plan can message G.O.A.T. Coach support from inside the app. We store each message (up to 1,000 characters), the time it was sent and your account ID so you and our support team can see the conversation. Please do not include players' names, medical details or other personal information about children. When you send a message we forward a copy by email to our support inbox (hello@goatcoach.uk) using our email provider, Resend (Resend, Inc., USA); the email contains only the message text, your account ID and the message ID, not your email address, name, plan or device details. Our replies appear in the chat. Support messages are checked automatically for links, contact details and offensive words and are rate-limited. A support conversation is deleted 12 months after its last message, and immediately if you delete your account; copies in our support inbox are deleted on the same schedule.

Purchases

Lite and Pro subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your card or payment details. If you have an online account, the app sends us Apple's signed record of your subscription (product, dates and transaction ID) so the companion knows your plan.

Location and weather

If you allow it, the app uses your approximate location only to show local weather (from Open-Meteo) and the nearest defibrillator. It is not stored by us. Postcode lookups for venues use postcodes.io.

Emails

We may email you when a companion sends you something. Every email has a one-tap unsubscribe link.

Tracking and ads

We do not track you across other apps or websites, show ads, use analytics or advertising SDKs, or sell your data. Our server provider is Supabase (data stored in London, UK). Push alerts go through Expo and Apple; emails and support-chat forwarding go through Resend.

Children

Coaches may enter junior players' names and stats. That data stays on the coach's device. A companion invite only carries the first name or nickname the coach chooses, and only phones linked with the coach's own invite code see anything about a child. Coaches are responsible for having parental consent where required.

Keeping and deleting data

Invites expire after 14 days if not used. Parent and coach messages are deleted after 30 days, support chat conversations 12 months after the last message, and other old companion records are removed automatically. You can delete everything from Account > Delete account in the app, which deletes your device data and your online account, invites, linked phones and messages. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your phone.

Your rights (UK GDPR)

You can access, correct or delete your data at any time. For any privacy question or request, email hello@goatcoach.uk and we will reply within 30 days. A parent can ask the coach, or us, to delete the messages and match charts they sent; unlinking the phone stops all further sharing straight away. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
